Mae’r ddarlith hon yn archwilio astudiaeth ddiweddar ar SUPPORT - model goruchwyliaeth adfyfyriol ymysg cyfoedion gyda’r bwriad o wella llesiant ymysg swyddogion yr heddlu a staff.
O ystyried natur drawmatig gwaith yr heddlu, a gwaith sy’n eu rhoi dan bwysau yn aml, mae nifer yn wynebu peryglon cynyddol trawma dirprwyol a straen eilaidd. Roedd SUPPORT yn darparu lle diogel, heb fod yn barnu, ar gyfer adfyfyrio gonest, helpu i adeiladu diogelwch seicolegol, empathi, a chydnerthedd o fewn timau.
Drwy annog sgyrsiau agored ynghylch iechyd meddwl a straen, mae’r model yn cynnig dull ymarferol, cynaliadwy o gefnogi’r rhai sydd ar y rheng flaen - ac i greu gweithlu plismona mwy iach, a mwy cysylltiedig.
Mae Tegan yn ddarlithydd mewn Plismona, Troseddeg a Dulliau sy’n Ystyriol o Drawma. Mae diddordebau ymchwil Tegan yn cynnwys dulliau sy’n ystyriol o drawma, trawma eilaidd a’r system gyfiawnder. Tegan yw’r hwylusydd sy’n ystyriol o drawma ar gyfer Canolfan Cyfiawnder Pobl.
“Nid pethau moethus yw llesiant gweithlu a mannau adfyfyriol - maent yn hanfodol ar gyfer cynnal y rhai sy’n cefnogi eraill”.
Dr Tegan Brierley-Sollis, Lecturer in Policing, Criminology, and Trauma Informed Approaches
This lecture explores a recent study into SUPPORT—a peer-to-peer reflective supervision model designed to enhance wellbeing among police officers and staff.
Given the high-stress and often traumatic nature of police work, many face increased risks of vicarious trauma and secondary stress. SUPPORT provided a safe, non-judgemental space for honest reflection, helping to build psychological safety, empathy, and resilience within teams.
By encouraging open conversations about mental health and stress, the model offers a practical, sustainable approach to supporting those on the frontline—and to building a healthier, more connected policing workforce.
Tegan is a lecturer in Policing, Criminology and Trauma-Informed Approaches. Tegan’s research interests include trauma-informed approaches, vicarious trauma and the justice system. Tegan is the trauma-informed convenor for the Centre for People’s Justice.
“Workforce wellbeing and reflective spaces are not luxuries – they are essential for sustaining those who support others”.
